CobraFlex® is a liquid nitrogen hose made by Vacuum Barrier Corporation (USA). It is made of stainless steel, insulated with a sealed vacuum and protected by a flexible outer braid. CobraFlex is used where the LN2 supply line must be flexible and heat ingress minimal. Supply to Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Moldova and Turkmenistan — Steiner Ukraine.
Liquid nitrogen boils at −196 °C. Any heat entering the line turns part of the liquid into gas, and a liquid–vapour mixture reaches the point of use. For a doser this means unstable dose weight. Vacuum insulation reduces heat ingress, so more liquid phase is delivered and less nitrogen is lost to evaporation.
CobraFlex is used in liquid nitrogen supply systems as a flexible section: where a rigid pipe is inconvenient — at equipment connections, on sections with a complex route or where movement is required. The specific layout is defined when the supply line is designed.
